Marie Callender's Grill
Pretty Woman
If you've ever been to a typical Marie Callender's you know they're basically a step up from Denny's, but with really great pie, right? Well, Marie found a sugar daddy who took her shopping on Rodeo drive, turned her into a forever princess, renamed herself Callender's Grill, and parked herself in the Miracle Mile. From their elegant, multi-level decor to their live piano music by the bar, this Callender's is an unrecognizable step (and-a-half) above the others.
Go for their Spaghetti and Meatballs which come with two huge slices of garlic bread and make you think of Mama's cookin'. Their 11' pizzas are large and in charge and taste decent too. Their sliders, good, huge, four flavor choices, come three on a plate with steak fries and will fill the hungriest of folk. While you must say "no" to the fishy fish tacos, there are plenty of menu options to say "yes" to and most come with a side (i.e. fries) making the "Meal Deal" selections endless!
Their drinks are solid, not stiff and a little syrupy sweet, but solid, and do a job well done in the end. The Pink Lemonade (Chambord, Absolut Citron, Lemonade) is double size and sweetly dangerous. They have a huge specialty cocktail selection, but we suggest sticking with their draft beers, wines by the glass or well drinks.
While nothing is "gourmet" on Marie's menu, the portions, prices and tasty variety make Callender's Grill a great Happy Hour stop. From rags to riches, Marie has turned Callender's Grill into one "Pretty Woman."
- Happy Hour Queens: Great Happy Hour! Tons of options, great tasting, great prices, great portions...
- Dr. Drinks: Drinks were a little on the sugary side. I'd stick with their draft beers, or well drinks.
- Veggie Vixen: Veggie bar food...hits the spot sometimes.
