Ca' Brea

There's nothing like finding a hidden gem amongst the Los Angeles happy hour rough, and our Happy Hour Crew is delighted about bringing Ca'Brea to your attention.  In short, we have four words: GET THE TRUFFLE BALLS!

But, before we explain our Truffle Ball madness we have to start with the service. Gary, our bartender/server, treated us like royalty and never knew we were reviewing the restaurant.  The absolute best server we've had thus far, and he makes some mean martinis to boot!  The Lemon Drop was perfection (our favorite), but you can't go wrong with any selection on their martini, wine or International (German & Italian) beer list.  They even feature a German non-alcoholic beer for those who love a good brew without the alcohol.  How kind!

Everything we tried on the menu was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Their Italian fare is rich and full of robust flavors, making their decent portion sizes go even further.  Although we featured the Penne (lighter on the sauce but spicy) as our "Meal Deal" almost anything on their $5 food menu can make for a meal in itself.  If you're really hungry and really love cheese the Melanzane Al Grana Podono (a version of Eggplant Parmesan) is your dish, large with the cheese in charge.  For a lighter note you can try the Polpetine Di Gamberi (Pan Fried Shrimp Cakes) although fried the side bed of baby greens balances it out perfectly)), or the Mini Panini.  BUT, whatever you do, don't miss the Aranchini Di Risso Con Funghi (Risotto Truffle Balls)!  Seriously, if we could dip 'em in gold and turn them into a trophy Ca' Brea would take first prize. They are HEAVEN on a plate...'nuff' said.
